On August 9, 2006, Shenyang Transformer Group Co., Ltd. successfully shipped a set of 780,000 kVA, 500 kV three-phase combined transformers—the largest of its kind in the world—intended for the Guangxi Longtan Water Conservancy Project. The transformers were transported using a split transportation method due to the logistical challenges posed by the project's location in Guangxi, where access and infrastructure were limited. Given the size and weight of the transformers, traditional transportation methods would have been impractical. To overcome this, the engineering team at Shenyang Transformer Group developed an innovative approach: combining the transformers into three phases and transporting them in sections. This allowed for easier movement through narrow roads and difficult terrain, while also enabling on-site assembly. This solution not only ensured the safe delivery of the equipment but also significantly reduced the overall construction workload and project costs. By optimizing the transportation process, the company demonstrated both technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills, setting a new standard for large-scale transformer projects in remote areas. The successful completion of this shipment marked a major milestone in China's power infrastructure development.
