Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. recently handed over the 7th 4250TEU container ship built under China Shipping Group. This vessel marks a significant milestone in the company’s shipbuilding capabilities, as it was completed in record time. Just two days after the engine was launched, the empty ship was weighed and underwent strength testing within a month of construction. It set a new benchmark for the shortest cycle and docking integrity, achieving the 55-day underwater construction record for this series.
The 4250TEU container ship is one of the three main ship types produced by Dalian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. Through mass production, the company has now reached the construction efficiency level of South Korean shipyards. This achievement is not only due to years of continuous improvement in ship design and production management, but also because of the company's ongoing efforts to refine and optimize the entire production process for these vessels, leading to a major breakthrough.
The No. 18 ship in the 4250TEU series has just completed its superstructure construction. The ship successfully finished the boiler compartment installation after the superstructure "hanging curtains" were lit. At the end of the ground group, the exhaust pipes and boiler room armor were sealed and passed the pressure test. Insulated white iron and furnace floor finishes for the exhaust pipes are complete, and all deck corridors have been fully constructed. Lifeboats and rescue boats have also been installed and positioned before the building closure, marking a major step forward in the project.
As a result, the superstructure of Dalian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry’s 4250TEU container ship has reached international advanced standards. The ship is now ready for sea trials within one week after completing the underwater operations.
In the rudder work for the No. 18 vessel, from the initial ship assembly to final inspection, improved organization and procedural methods allowed the ship to meet the shore sway conditions in just 9 days. This marks a new achievement in the company’s history, laying a solid foundation for improving the integrity of the launching water and shortening the underwater construction cycle.
