China Construction Glass and Industrial Glass Association recently convened a preparatory meeting in Beijing for the Automotive Glass (Non-Matching) Professional Committee, announcing the upcoming release of an "Automobile Glass (Zero Allocation) Industry and Regulatory Agreement." In addition, it was revealed that the Auto Glass (Non-Matching) Professional Committee will be officially established soon to support the implementation of these professional rules and regulations.
According to the newly issued "Regulations and Guidelines," the committee has the authority to educate and sanction production and operating companies that disrupt industry order, harm other businesses, or violate regulatory requirements. Possible measures include issuing warnings, publicly criticizing members within the industry, and recommending government agencies to impose penalties such as ordering corrections, issuing warnings, imposing fines, requiring business suspensions for rectification, or revoking business licenses by the administrative authorities for industry and commerce.
The purpose of this meeting is to collaborate with local industrial and commercial departments in regulating enterprise behavior and protecting consumer rights. Experts have pointed out that the current auto glass zero-distribution industry is in a chaotic state. With over 10,000 distribution companies nationwide, the market suffers from product quality inconsistencies, incomplete technical services, and a lack of standardized practices. Industry standards are not uniform, leading to overall low quality and instability in the sector.
Experts also emphasized that automotive glass plays a critical role in vehicle safety systems, directly impacting driver and passenger safety. Low-quality glass and substandard adhesives can introduce numerous safety risks. According to a survey, on average, two out of every ten traffic accidents involving automotive glass result in harm to consumers.
In recent years, the auto glass zero-matching industry has experienced rapid growth. Statistics and forecasts suggest that at least 2.6 million auto glass units will need replacement annually in the coming years, with sales reaching 1.5 billion yuan.
To address these issues, the China Construction Glass and Industrial Glass Association has introduced nine strict requirements for production and operation enterprises under the "Contract Regulations." These include: refraining from selling counterfeit or substandard products, avoiding the use of others' registered trademarks, not forging or falsely using quality marks, avoiding misleading quality statements, not impersonating other companies, not engaging in predatory pricing to eliminate competitors, not spreading false information to damage competitor reputations, not using non-compliant auto glass components that harm consumer interests, and not using bribery or other improper means to sell products. Additionally, they must avoid false advertising regarding product quality and performance.
