It's been over a year since the global spread of COVID-19, and with it came a dramatic shift in how we live, work, and connect. The pandemic disrupted not just our routines, but the very fabric of our personal and professional lives. At Autodesk, we've remained focused, resilient, and deeply committed to supporting our people, customers, and communities through this challenging time. We’ve adapted quickly, embraced digital transformation, and found new ways to stay connected, collaborate, and innovate—even when we couldn’t be together in person. Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of how Autodesk has stepped up. We’ve provided flexible solutions for our customers, supported remote learning, and made sure our teams had the tools they needed to succeed from anywhere. We’ve also taken steps to create safer, more thoughtful workspaces that prioritize health and well-being. While the world is still navigating the ongoing impact of the pandemic, we’re also seeing hope. Vaccination efforts are making progress, and there’s a growing sense of optimism about what the future holds. As society continues to recover, it's clear that the post-pandemic world will look different—and it's up to all of us to shape that future, especially when it comes to how and where we work. That’s why we developed Autodesk’s Flexible Workplace model—a new approach that reflects our values, supports our people, and adapts to the evolving needs of our business and the world around us. **Autodesk’s Flexible Workplace** As we move forward, we believe that flexibility in how and where work gets done is key to helping our employees thrive. Our new model is designed to support a dynamic, distributed workforce while maintaining the collaboration and connection that make Autodesk unique. Under the Flexible Workplace, employees will fall into one of three categories: - **Office-Based**: Most of these employees will work primarily from an Autodesk office, with the option to work remotely up to 20% of the time. Some roles, like reception or security, require daily in-office presence. - **Hybrid**: This group will split their time between home and local offices. Most of our global team will be in this category, with access to day-use workspaces as needed, but no dedicated desks. - **Home-Based**: These employees work primarily from home, typically because they don’t live near any Autodesk office. We’re rolling out this model globally, one office at a time, taking into account local regulations, vaccination rates, and public health trends. Many offices in Asia Pacific have already reopened, and others in the U.S. and beyond will follow this summer. No matter the location, the return will be phased to ensure a safe, organized, and smooth transition for everyone. Beyond the structure, our goal is simple: to create a work environment that’s inclusive, adaptable, and centered on people. We want to continue fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration—whether you're in the office, at home, or somewhere in between. The pandemic has shown us the power of resilience, adaptability, and teamwork. While we can’t predict what’s next, we know that by putting people first, we can help everyone find balance, grow, and achieve more than ever before.
