Stephen Wilcox recently shared another house fire incident from Dupage County, specifically in Lisle. He provided multiple photos along with detailed commentary:
"This box alarm occurred in an area without hydrants, located in the northern part of Lisle's jurisdiction. The weather was particularly hot and humid at the time. Unfortunately, no one was home when the fire broke out at around 11:15 AM on July 1st, 2011, which might have contributed to a delayed response. The structure involved was a single-story "L"-shaped building approximately 40 feet by 80 feet, constructed using ordinary materials and situated on Red Oak Avenue. Command initiated a call for additional tanker support as well."
Attached to his post were several images capturing different stages of the firefighting operation. One photo showed the "D" side of the property upon arrival, highlighting the area where the fire initially ignited. Another image depicted the "A" side shortly after the first responders arrived, clearly showing the initial deployment of equipment and personnel positioning themselves strategically.
Further photos illustrated firefighters actively stretching hose lines into place while preparing for offensive operations. As the blaze intensified, flames quickly spread from the "C-D" corner towards the "B" side, becoming visible through windows within minutes of their arrival. By this point, heavy smoke had already begun billowing outwards, indicating significant internal damage.
A subsequent shot focused on the rear section of the residence during peak activity levels. Firefighters could be seen engaging in aggressive suppression efforts using larger diameter hoses capable of delivering higher volumes of water under pressure. Meanwhile, aerial views revealed extensive structural compromise, including portions of the roof collapsing under intense heat exposure.
To address challenges posed by limited access to municipal hydrant systems, mutual aid resources were summoned promptly. For instance, Winfield Tender 614 was dispatched due to its specialized capability in transporting large quantities of water directly to scenes lacking conventional connections. Similarly, York Center FPD Tender 76 also responded to supplement these efforts further downstream via inline relay techniques designed to maintain consistent flow rates throughout extended durations.
Finally, attention turned toward Engine 511 - newly added asset within Lisle Fire Department's fleet - tasked with serving as primary pump station throughout entire sequence. Its performance demonstrated reliability even under high stress conditions typical found urban-rural interface zones like this particular location presented unique logistical hurdles requiring innovative solutions beyond standard practice guidelines alone. Overall impression conveyed professionalism coupled dedication exhibited entire team working together harmoniously achieve positive outcome despite adverse circumstances surrounding case overall.
