Recently, Alfa Laval has received an order for a modified cement ship to install the PureSOx exhaust gas cleaning system.
The US NovaAlgoma Cement Transport Vessel Co., Ltd. recently expanded its fleet and added the new M/v Nacc Quebec. It is reported that this eco-efficient dump truck will be converted from an existing ship in a Chinese shipyard and is expected to be put back into operation in 2017.
Connected to the ship's Wärtsilä 4-stroke 6L38B mainframe will be an Alfa Laval PureSOx exhaust cleaning system with a mixed-distribution U-designed scrubber.
It is reported that the scrubber is a way to meet the sulfur emission regulations in the Great Lakes region of North America. According to the strict water discharge requirements of the United States, closed-loop washing technology is required on board. PureSOx provides proven water cleaning technology based on centrifugal separation technology that enables vessels to continue to navigate in a closed loop mode. For full operational flexibility, the ship is also equipped with a hybrid system that allows the ship to sail in open loop mode.
After the final serious consideration, the shipowner finally chose the U-designed PureSOx scrubber, which is most suitable for the modified space and operation mode on the ship.
