As mentioned in previous posts HERE and HERE, the Homewood Fire Department and the Hillside Fire Department both recently received new rear-mount aerial ladders from Pierce. These units mark a significant upgrade for both departments, enhancing their ability to respond to high-rise fires and other emergency situations. Ryan Wyckoff was kind enough to share some great photos of both apparatus during his visit to Pierce last month. And just this week, Pierce officially released the images on their Flickr page, along with several other shots of the new models. The first photo shows Homewood Ladder 555, a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT 105' quint. This unit features a rear-mount design that allows for better maneuverability in tight urban environments while still offering the reach needed for high-rise operations. The second image highlights Hillside’s new Truck 403, a 2011 Pierce Velocity XT 105' rear-mount quint. This model also offers similar capabilities, with a modern design and advanced technology to support firefighters in the field. Both departments are clearly investing in cutting-edge equipment, which is a positive sign for their communities. If you're interested in seeing more images or learning more about these units, be sure to check out the full set on Pierce's official Flickr account.
