At Autodesk, we have a long history of helping customers embrace technological change. From the early days of moving from drafting tables to computers with AutoCAD in 1982, to introducing modeling-based design and building information modeling (BIM) with Revit in 2002, we've always been at the forefront of innovation.
Recently, we expanded BIM's value by connecting architects, engineers, and construction teams through the cloud using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), enabling real-time collaboration on shared data. But the architecture, engineering, construction, and operations (AECO) industry is evolving rapidly. Urbanization is increasing demand, complex projects are pushing timelines and budgets, and talent shortages are creating more pressure than ever.
These challenges aren’t going away, so BIM as we know it must evolve. Too much data gets lost or recreated between the different phases of a project—plan, design, build, and operate. That’s why we believe connected data can help our customers overcome these issues. We need to unlock the power of your data to make it easier for you to move between stakeholders, connect workflows, build intelligent processes, maintain a single source of truth in the cloud, and deliver what customers like Arco are asking for.
As Richard Hogan, Project Lead & Architect at ARCO Architecture Company, said, “The architect’s workflow has evolved over hundreds of years. Now we’re entering a world that is data-rich. We must evolve our workflow to create better performing, more sustainable buildings that fit into our cities.â€
To meet these needs, we're launching Autodesk Forma, the industry cloud for AECO. It will reimagine BIM by leveraging next-generation technology to connect data, teams, and workflows, enabling more collaborative and concurrent ways of working. The first release of Autodesk Forma is coming on May 8, marking the start of a multi-year journey. This is just the beginning of a new era for the AECO industry.
With Autodesk Forma, planning and design teams will gain powerful conceptual design capabilities, predictive analytics, and automation powered by Spacemaker’s AI engine. You’ll be able to work seamlessly between Revit and Forma, between initial planning and detailed design, and between the cloud and desktop, improving project performance throughout the design process.
Revit will continue to be a core part of our offering, and the new features in Revit 2024 are essential for today’s workflows. They also set the stage for the upcoming launch of Autodesk Forma.
With connected data, teams, and processes in the cloud, you can make better decisions earlier in projects. You can harness AI, machine learning, and the Internet of Things to speed up processes, reduce errors, and predict and solve problems before they happen.
Join us on May 8 for the launch event where we'll reveal the first set of Forma capabilities and bring together industry leaders to discuss how data will shape the future of architecture and construction.
