I recently stumbled upon an interesting sight while driving by Widaman Sign Co. in Berwyn. Nestled in their side parking lot was a mid-90s E-One pumper truck. Out of curiosity, I decided to take a closer look and discovered that this vehicle appears to be under refurbishment at Widaman Sign Co. It was labeled as "Brownell and Sons Motorsports," but there were no other fire department insignias visible. I'm not entirely sure if the restoration work has been completed yet, but I thought it would be intriguing to find out more about the history of this apparatus. Specifically, I’m wondering which fire department—or even private entity—it originally belonged to and what its current status or usage might be. If any contributors from the Chicago Area Fire community happen to know anything about this, I’d greatly appreciate it if they could share their insights. Here are some photos I snapped during my visit. The first one shows the overall appearance of the truck before any major modifications or restorations might have taken place. The second image highlights some of the finer details of the vehicle, including its branding as Brownell and Sons Motorsports. The third photo gives a closer view of the side paneling, which looks like it’s been stripped down to bare metal, suggesting active work on the truck. The final two images provide a broader perspective of the setting where the truck is currently located. This discovery has piqued my interest, and I hope to learn more about the journey of this old E-One pumper truck. If anyone has any leads or additional information, feel free to reach out!
