**Autodesk Stingray Technology Preview**
On Wednesday, March 4, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Autodesk will host an exclusive tech preview of its Stingray game engine at the Moscone Convention Center, West Hall, Room 3003. Built upon the core technology of the Bitsquid engine, which Autodesk acquired last summer, Stingray is still in active development but already boasts a set of intuitive and powerful tools that promise to simplify the process of bringing visually stunning games to market across multiple platforms.
Martin Wahlund, CEO of Fatshark, noted, "Since joining the Autodesk family last year, the Bitsquid team has been busy refining and expanding the capabilities of the engine. We're thrilled to share that we’re leveraging Stingray to develop our upcoming 'Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide' game."
The GDC preview will emphasize several key areas designed to empower developers of all skill levels to craft the next wave of blockbuster titles. During the event, Autodesk will demonstrate some of the latest advancements in Stingray, including:
- **Simultaneous Platform Deployment:** A live connection between Stingray and multiple target devices enables designers to test their games across platforms in real-time.
- **Integrated Workflow:** Streamlined processes for exporting 3D content to ensure efficiency.
- **Modern Data-Driven Architecture & Advanced Rendering:** A flexible core architecture that allows users to modify the visual style of a game without needing to rewrite or recompile the engine.

**Autodesk Maya LT 2016**
Launching on March 26, 2015, Maya LT 2016 is packed with new features aimed at accelerating modeling and animation workflows, empowering indie developers to produce high-quality visuals for their games.
Oliver Clarke, director and co-founder of Modern Dream, shared, "As we established our indie studio and worked on our first title, Maya LT quickly became indispensable for creating top-tier 3D game assets. It’s become a cornerstone of our creative process, helping us stand out in a highly competitive market."
Highlights of the new release include:
- **Integrated Sculpting and UV Editing Tools:** Brush-based sculpting now supports detailed modeling directly within Maya LT, eliminating the need to switch tools. New UV brushes—such as interactive edge-cutting, automatic projections, and pinning—offer a seamless artistic workflow.
- **Advanced Animation and Game Exporter Tool:** Improved spline IK and cluster deformation tools allow for smoother animation of non-humanoid characters. An updated Game Exporter simplifies the management and export of multiple animation clips, making it easier for indie artists to prepare assets for game engines.
- **Physically-Based ShaderFX Nodes & User-Suggested Enhancements:** Physically-based shaders enable artists to design more realistic materials, enhancing asset quality. Additional features include background texture loading, customizable default lighting environments, and fog effects in the viewport to focus attention on nearby objects.
- **Creative Market Content Storefront:** Following Autodesk’s acquisition of Creative Market—a marketplace serving over 690,000 artists and designers—Maya LT users will gain access to a dedicated content landing page tailored for game creators. This page can be accessed directly from within the Maya LT app or via [https://creativemarket.com/apps/mayalt](https://creativemarket.com/apps/mayalt).
Maya LT is available through a Desktop Subscription with flexible payment options, including monthly, quarterly, and annual plans.
