According to the CCTV “Weekly Quality Reportâ€, companies such as Xueyang Gelatin Plant in Luancheng County in Hebei Province and Guifeng Gelatin Factory in Luyang County in Jiangxi Province sold industrial gelatin produced from leather waste to the “hometown of capsulesâ€. The capsule manufacturing company in Xinchang County, Zhejiang Province, successfully made hollow capsules with excessively high chromium content into pharmaceutical factories throughout the country, and eventually became the market for capsule drugs of various brands. After the incident was exposed, the State Food and Drug Administration immediately issued an emergency notice requesting suspension of sales and use of related products. After the supervision and inspection and product inspection results are clear, qualified products will continue to be sold, and unqualified products will be handled according to law. Enterprises that produce and sell medicinal hollow capsules in violation of the regulations will be severely investigated and dealt with according to law. On April 16, the Tancheng County government stated that the local gelatin production and operation enterprises will be suspended from rectification, all illegal production enterprises will be banned, their production facilities destroyed, raw materials and products will be sealed on the spot, and the relevant departments shall promptly Sales are tracked down. Yao Longkun, general secretary of the China Daily Chemical Association Gelatin Section, said that the behavior of a few companies has seriously disturbed the gelatin market order, and at the same time it has caused great negative impact and losses on the regular gelatin production enterprises, which has greatly hurt the credibility of the entire industry.
