Compared to conventional electric dust collectors, PM adsorption efficiency is higher. The processing technology was jointly developed by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Daihatsu Diesel Engine. The principle is to use a plasma to charge the PM and then adsorb it to the electrode to decompose it. There is no need to mechanically recover the adsorbed PM like an electric dust collector, eliminating the risk of re-diffusion. In China, atmospheric pollution caused by particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) is increasing. Using Mitsui’s shipbuilding processing technology, it is possible to capture nano-sized particles that are difficult to capture with filters, so it is expected that PM2.5 will fall below the baseline value.
