Researchers at UC Irvine invented nanowire battery materials that can be recharged thousands of times, further from the study of permanently used batteries that do not need to be replaced.

Scientists are always looking for nanowires in batteries. Thousands of times thinner than human hair, they have high electrical conductivity, large surface area storage and good transmission characteristics. Lead researcher, UCI's Dr. Mya Le Thai, tested the electrodes 200,000 times more than three months without any capacity or power loss and did not crack any nanowires. The study was published in the United States Chemical Society of Energy Letters.
