Alfa Laval announced that the new PureNOx Prime Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) water treatment system will be equipped with five large ethane carriers (VLEC) from United Ethane Carriers (UEC). The company said that the order came from Mann Diesel and Turbo, the latest order received by the PureNOx Prime exhaust gas recirculating water treatment system in a short period of time.
UEC will operate five VLECs built by JHW Engineering & Contracting. These VLECs will use exhaust gas recirculation to reduce NOx emissions. As for the water treatment in the exhaust gas recirculation line, the engine supplier Mann Diesel & Turbo has selected the PureNOx Prime exhaust gas recirculation water treatment system.
It is reported that these five VLECs will be built by the big ship offshore. Like all ships built after January 2016, these newly built VLECs will meet the more stringent Tier III NOx limit requirements for operation in the North American Coastal Emission Control Area (ECA).
Each VLEC will be equipped with a PureNOx Prime 100 system. The system has the lowest processing capacity of the three PureNOx Prime exhaust gas recirculating water treatment systems. The system includes a centrifugal separator. The PureNOx Prime Exhaust Water Recirculating Water Treatment System will be integrated with the VH's Hyundai Heavy Industries Group Engine Machinery Division (HHI-EMD) for the exhaust gas recirculation engine of the engine produced by Mann Diesel and Turbo.
