As the Chicago area experienced its **first snowfall of the season**, local fire departments were kept busy responding to numerous accidents. This morning, a two-car head-on collision occurred on Route 173, west of Delaney Road in Wadsworth, Illinois. Jeff Rudolph captured the scene, showing the efforts of the Newport Township Fire Protection District (FPD), who arrived with multiple units. They were assisted by firefighters from Zion and Winthrop Harbor.
Six individuals were transported to medical facilities, and while injuries were reported, they did not appear to be life-threatening. The cold weather and slick roads likely contributed to the accident, highlighting the importance of caution during winter travel.
Jeff Rudolph recently launched a Flickr page to share his photography work. His collection includes on-site and static apparatus photos from across the country, not just the Chicago area. You can view his gallery [here](#). The images span many years, offering a glimpse into the history of emergency services and the moments that define them.
