LAS VEGAS, Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq: ADSK) is taking a major step forward in supporting the future of work by launching two new initiatives at Autodesk University. The company has partnered with Village Capital to fund a groundbreaking workforce development program focused on entrepreneurship, job training, and upskilling in an era dominated by automation. In addition, Autodesk is collaborating with LinkedIn Learning to provide free access to over 40 industry-specific courses across multiple languages, covering fields like architecture, construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
The goal of these efforts is to ensure that workers are not left behind as technology evolves. With global population expected to rise by 30% by 2050, it's more important than ever for people to learn how to work alongside machines in new and innovative ways. These initiatives reflect Autodesk’s ongoing commitment to preparing the next generation of professionals to create, build, and innovate more efficiently while minimizing environmental impact.
As part of the partnership with Village Capital, the Autodesk Foundation will support a new initiative aimed at fostering startups that use automation to enhance workforce development. This program will identify and support early-stage companies leveraging AI and robotics to improve efficiency, augment human capabilities, and address labor shortages in key industries such as manufacturing and caregiving. A one-day forum will bring together top entrepreneurs to explore how automation can empower workers to focus on higher-level tasks.
Meanwhile, the collaboration with LinkedIn Learning offers a valuable opportunity for professionals and students alike. For 90 days starting November 14, more than 40 courses will be available for free, covering essential skills for the future of design and engineering. These courses include training on leading Autodesk software and are offered in five languages: English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese.
“We believe that in an automated world, it’s our responsibility to help workers gain the skills they need to thrive,†said Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk. “That’s why we’re excited to announce these new initiatives with LinkedIn Learning and Village Capital, which will help people embrace automation and grow their careers.â€
