This report comes from Larry Shapiro: The Lake Zurich Fire Department was called at 5:30 AM to a house fire in Deer Park. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed flames coming from the flat roof of a large, long-vacant home. Since the area lacks hydrants, the first responding engine tried to use tank water via the deck gun to control the fire. However, due to the intensity and lack of water supply, a second alarm was soon dispatched to bring in more tankers. A large-diameter hose was laid from Cuba Road to the property, covering most of a block to provide a steady water supply. The fire caused significant damage to the roof and attic of the structure. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
