This is from Larry Shapiro: The Lake Zurich Fire Department received a call at 5:30 AM reporting flames coming from a large house in Deer Park. Upon arrival, the first responding units found fire visible from the flat roof of a home that had been vacant for several years. Since the area lacks fire hydrants, the first engine attempted to use tank water via a deck gun to combat the fire. A tanker shuttle was quickly established to support the operation. A second alarm was called for additional tankers to help manage the growing fire. Large diameter hose was laid from Cuba Road to the residence, covering nearly an entire block. The fire caused significant damage to the roof and attic of the structure. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
