This evening around 7:30 PM, the Wheeling Fire Department received multiple calls about a house fire in the 100 block of Manchester Drive West. When the first responding units arrived, they found a fully engulfed attached garage at 115 Manchester. Recognizing the severity of the situation, they quickly escalated the response to a Code 4, which prompted mutual aid support from neighboring departments including Northbrook, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, and Arlington Heights. Interestingly, some Wheeling companies were already engaged in other emergencies at the time, so there were fewer resources available for the initial response.
Despite the challenges, firefighters managed to swiftly contain the blaze, which had spread slightly into the attic of the house. Their quick actions prevented any significant damage to the main structure, though the attached garage sustained considerable damage. Larry Shapiro and Tim Olk were on the scene, capturing some powerful images. A full gallery of photos can be viewed [here](#).

The collaborative efforts of the various departments ensured that the fire was brought under control relatively quickly, minimizing potential risks and damages. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but it’s clear that the swift response played a crucial role in containing the situation. This incident once again highlights the importance of community cooperation and the dedication of emergency responders who work tirelessly to protect our neighborhoods.
