In 2009, Autodesk introduced the Cleantech Partner program as a means to offer advanced design tools to trailblazing startups and innovators in the green and clean-tech industries. At the outset, we supported over 100 companies in the U.S. and Europe with our design software. Fast forward six years, and the program has grown exponentially—today, over 3,000 startups across North America, Europe, Israel, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore are part of it, gaining access to tools that enable them to craft sustainability-driven solutions.
To fuel the next wave of entrepreneurial spirit, we're broadening our scope beyond traditional markets and sectors like clean and green tech. This transformation prompted us to rebrand the initiative as the Autodesk Entrepreneur Impact Program.
This enhanced program now welcomes entrepreneurs worldwide who are creating innovations with a positive environmental or social impact. They can apply for access to Autodesk's digital prototyping tools, engineering, and fabrication software.
Over the past six years, the world has undergone significant changes. The cleantech sector has matured, renewable energy costs have plummeted, and multinational corporations are increasingly investing in clean tech initiatives. Technology development has sped up, and access to it has become far more accessible. Meanwhile, millennials have taken over the workforce, surpassing baby boomers and Gen Xers. Most crucially, sustainability and climate concerns have moved front and center in global discussions.
This new breed of empowered entrepreneurs isn't just building businesses—they're creating scalable solutions with a positive environmental and social impact. They're also key players in addressing the challenges of climate change—not just in the U.S. or Europe, but globally. In February, Forbes highlighted how Africa's burgeoning young entrepreneurs are set to reshape the continent. In China, the government is pushing hard for a sustainable, beautiful nation, actively encouraging entrepreneurship nationwide.
We're witnessing something once unimaginable—a few entrepreneurs can now disrupt entire industries. Breakthroughs often happen in small startups, particularly in sectors focused on the environment and social good, such as energy, mobility, the built environment, water management, waste reduction, resource optimization, and health. All these entrepreneurs share the goal of designing impactful, scalable solutions.
We've seen incredible grassroots growth among organizations in Africa, Southeast Asia, and India. With this program expansion, we'll give them access to the same cutting-edge Autodesk technology used by larger corporations. Our focus is on identifying entrepreneurs with the greatest potential for impact and offering them additional training and support.

As we gather for the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties 21 (COP21), it's clear that action is needed to implement climate solutions. Empowering entrepreneurs is one of the first steps we're taking toward making that happen. As Peter Drucker once said, "The best way to predict the future is to create it." We hope to see countless entrepreneurs rise to the challenge of solving climate issues and building a low-carbon future for everyone. Apply here.
