Before the opening ceremony, under the joint witness of the two Prime Ministers, Jiang Jiemin, General Manager of China National Petroleum Corporation, and Wu Mintian, General Manager of Myanmar National Oil & Gas Company, signed the “Shareholder Agreement of Southeast Asia Crude Oil Pipeline Co., Ltd.” and the rights of Southeast Asia Natural Gas Pipeline Co., Ltd. Obligations Agreement and the Shareholders Agreement of Southeast Asia Natural Gas Pipeline Co., Ltd. The agreement clarified that the Southeast Asia Pipeline Company, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, was the controlling shareholder of the joint venture and was responsible for the design, construction, operation, expansion and maintenance of the oil and gas pipeline project.

The China-Myanmar natural gas pipeline is 793 kilometers long in Myanmar. The Myanmar-China Crude Oil Pipeline is 771 kilometers long in Burma, and is supported by a crude oil jetty on the west coast of Myanmar. Both pipelines began in the city of Burma, drifting from Yunnan Ruili into China. The construction of China-Myanmar oil and gas pipelines is of great significance in promoting China's energy supply diversification, promoting economic and social development in Myanmar, and achieving mutual benefit and win-win for all parties involved in cooperation.

General Manager Jiang Jiemin of CNPC and deputy general manager Liao will attend the opening ceremony of the oil and gas pipelines in China and Myanmar and participate in related activities during Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to Myanmar.
