The first-generation catalyst pilot test designed and manufactured by Wuzheng Shandong Hualu Hengsheng Group Co., Ltd.'s 50,000 t/y ethylene glycol plant has exceeded 7000 hours, and the performance of the catalyst has not changed significantly. On this basis, Wuzheng conducted destructive tests under various harsh conditions on the catalyst in use, once again proved that the catalyst is stable and reliable, and it has been fully applied to large-scale industrial production. The company's second-generation catalyst has also been shaped, with higher liquid hourly space velocity and superior performance. Currently, Wuzheng has already begun the research and development of a third-generation coal-based glycol catalyst, introducing new elements into the catalysts used in the synthesis of dimethyl oxalate (DMO). The selectivity is greater than 98%, and the once-through conversion is greater than 93%. The DMO space-time yield was greater than 780 g/kg·hr. The conversion rate of DMO hydrogenation catalyst is close to 100%, the selectivity is more than 98%, and the space-time yield of dimethyl oxalate hydrogenation to synthesize ethylene glycol is more than 1000 g/kg·hr.

In addition, before the use of DMO synthesis and hydrogenation catalysts, catalyst protection steps are also added to make them more selective, and the probability of inactivation and denaturation of poisoning is smaller, and they can operate stably for a long period of time. Their lifetime guarantee value is two years.
