On December 14, 2011, the Ministry of Commerce announced that it will impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties on some large-displacement imported cars from the United States in the next two years, involving companies such as General Motors, Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Honda. . The Ministry of Commerce announced that during the investigation period, there were dumping and subsidy for imported cars and off-road vehicles originating in the United States with a displacement of 2.5 liters or more, and domestic cars and off-road vehicles with a displacement of 2.5 liters or more. The industry was substantially damaged, and there was a causal relationship between dumping, subsidies, and substantial damage.

Although this measure also involves Honda, BMW and Mercedes-Benz companies in the United States, but the most affected is still the United States, Ford and Chrysler and other US Department of the top three. The U.S. Department of Automobiles’ import cost increased by tens of thousands of yuan. The most direct impact of the “double anti-taxes” on U.S. cars is to increase their import costs. On the other hand, the introduction of double taxation will accelerate the speed of product introduction by Shanghai-based joint ventures such as Shanghai GM Cadillac and Changan Ford. At present, Shanghai GM has a rich product line, listing only 3 new cars this year alone, and preparing for the “double tax” levy in advance. Ford Motor Co., Ltd. has lost only a few imported cars. Only Chrysler, which has no production base in China and plans to introduce the Chrysler brand to China next year after the JEEP brand, will have the greatest impact on the introduction of “double tax”.
