1 dead and 10 missing due to shipwreck accident in Suixi County, Hunan Province

From the scene of the rescue of the shipwreck accident in Suixi County, Hunan Province, it was newly learned that the shipwreck that occurred on the 27th has resulted in 1 death and 10 missing persons. On the day of the accident, the preliminary statistical data released by the local authorities was one death and eight missing persons.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Suixi County Committee Shi Zelong, at about 10:00 on May 27th, a passenger ship of Chenxi County, Hunan Province, with the passenger number “Xiang Chen Ke 0085”, sailed from the pier of Pushi Town, Suixi County and returned to Xiaojiao Town, Kangxizhou, Chenxi County. Due to engine failure, the passenger ship flowed downwards by itself and could not be controlled. It collided with a downstream cargo ship and caused the passenger ship to turn over. According to preliminary verification by the local government, 25 passengers were on board passengers, of which 14 were rescued, 1 dead and 10 missing.
